Survey Says: Using MS Word or Google Docs students will explore table features, investigate, predict and report on a school wide theme. Students will upload document into Google Drive.
Brochure: Using MS Publisher students will create a school wide brochure based on a class chosen topic. Previous topics: Chrome books, Welcome to 6th grade, Plagiarism /Copy Right and Fair Use Guidelines.
Possible New topic: "School Rules".
Millstone Hall of Fame Nominations: Using MS Excel or Google Sheets students will select Hall of Fame nominations and collect data from the Internet based on skills needed to be included in the Millstone Hall of Fame. They will Compare/Contrast MS Excel vs Google Sheets!
Scavenger Hunt: Searching the Internet means that students need to practice searching techniques and explore keywords to type to find information quickly. This scavenge hunt contest will challenge them to do all of this! Understanding how to use Google Earth and to "print screen" will be added skills needed to complete this assignment.
Career Options: Using MS PowerPoint or Google Slides students will explore and investigate possible career / job opportunities. Students will share creative and different types of jobs opportunities for 2025. Covering categories such as skills needed, salaries, education requirements, and description of a career /job available in the near future. Students will compare / contrast MS PowerPoint and Google Slide.
CODE DAY: Once a week class will discover and explore CODING/PROGRAMMING. Students will review / be introduced to basic coding vocabulary (algorithms, functions, variables, programming, block code, loops, and nested loops). Students will use SCRATCH to create an interactive game by the end of the marking period.
